OUR LITTLE GAZEBO

It's what's on the inside that counts

The Gazebo is listed with Historic England as “Gazebo Adjacent to River Avon”  List Entry Number: 1201292 Grade: II.  It was first listed 10-Jan-1991. The following information is provided in the listing details:

“Gazebo. c1800. Flemish bond brick with ball finial to pyramidal slate roof. Square plan. One storey. Flat arches over blocked doorway to west and blocked windows to other elevations. INTERIOR not inspected. A now rare survivor, together with that to the rear of No.77 Church Street and that in Red Lane (qqv), of a number of gazebos which stood along the banks of the Avon.”

There is not much archive information available but some say the Gazebo and its mooring was originally built as a refuelling station others say it was built as a summer house to an old boat house. If you know any history or have any old photos please share them with us by email.  Thank you.

The boat house/structure was demolished and the decking area is all that remains today. We have painstakingly transformed and modernised this little gem of a building to provide a long awaited service on the Riverside that compliments the Riverside Walk. We welcome visitors to Tewkesbury and look forward to sharing our lovely local produce Coffee, Tea, Cake and Ice Cream. Please join us.
